Precast/Prestressed Girder Help

Limitations and Assumptions

When using flared girders in Precast/Prestressed Girder, please be aware of the following program assumptions and limitations.
  • The bearing overhang and precast face to CL distances are common for all beams at a particular abutment or pier.
  • Live Load analysis model (continuous beam model lengths) are always along bridge center line. Users should use engineering judgement on applying Precast/Prestressed Girder for situations where the individual girder lengths are significantly different than the CL span length.
  • Distribution Factors are calculated at every 10th point using code equations is selected.
  • Refined method of analysis is not available when the flared girder option is selected.
  • Self weight of slab is modeled as a Trapezoidal load.
  • The Dead Load Wizard currently can’t auto-generate Trapezoidal loads. User must manually input or edit in the loads gird.
  • Effective Width and Section Properties are computed at 10th points.
